Raft egg-sploits
The Smile families returned for another day of fun involving birdbox making and egg raft creations. Lots of new faces joined us and got stuck in alongside others who have been before. It was lovely to have a family back who attended for our first ever Smile activity day 6 years ago!
The Winter is passed…
The winter is passed, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come… This is indeed the case at Manna, and I reflected upon this yesterday with a visitor as we listened to the birdsong drifting from tree to tree. Manna is bursting into life with…
Our flock egg-spands…
Following the successful rearing of 8 hens from eggs we have just been given another 9 chickens to add to our colourful flock. We will soon be selling our eggs which are delicious, so do pop in to purchase a box or 2.
Autumn is here
Wandering around the woods yesterday with the dappled sunlight shining through the trees we stumbled upon some super mushrooms which confirmed that autumn has finally arrived. So goodbye to the shorts and endless watering, and hello to layers of clothes and Manna grown soup and stews.
Award presentation
Following generous funding from the National Gardens Scheme to create wheelchair accessible raised beds, we have spent months building and planting and are very pleased with the results. Two members from the NGS visited us to present a lovely plaque and we had a very enjoyable time with them. A huge thank you to all…
Smile returns!
We held our annual summer activity day for the Smile project at the end of August with nearly 50 attendees. The day was filled with creative and active fun including canoeing, glass painting, jewellery making, bird pizzas and the all essential fire pit barbecue. It was great to have some ‘old’ families back as well…
New residents
Yesterday we welcomed 6 new residents to Manna who generously thanked us this morning with 6 eggs. They are very friendly hens who will eat from your hands, or if you are foolish enough to go near them wearing flip flops, will peck your toes presuming them to be worms!
Raised beds for all
After months of hard work we have finally completed our ‘accessible for all’ raised beds which are already producing abundant crops both for edible and sensory enjoyment. A huge thank you to the National Garden Scheme for making this possible.
New life
Spring really is here now with the arrival of some beautiful lambs.
